Outpatient Treatment Overview

Is Outpatient Treatment Right For You?

Outpatient treatment is designed for those who have completed a higher level of care like a residential treatment program or for those who are medically stable and able to pursue recovery without around-the-clock supervision. It is ideal for anyone who must continue to work, attend school, or care for children or parents at home.

What is the NCADD-SFV Outpatient Treatment Program?

Our team at NCADD-SFV has experienced certified and registered alcohol and drug counselors to teach clients the necessary tools to identify the triggers and fight the urges that could lead to relapse. 12-Step facilitation therapy recovery which is an evidence based practice is integrated with the principles of addiction treatment, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy strategies. Clients will learn effective coping strategies to deal with life stressors and get connected with other individuals in recovery to develop a support network.

NCADD-SFV outpatient treatment program is client centered and our goal is to meet the specific needs of the individual client. All clients will receive a comprehensive intake assessment in order to develop their personalized treatment plan and assigned a case manager. Our goal is to provide clients the services and support that they need to achieve their individual treatment goals.

Our Services Include the Following:

Individual Counseling sessions focus on the underlying issues related to substance use and are used to map out a plan to achieve the goals outlined in the client’s individualized treatment plan, focusing on personal, family, job, school and other life challenges as they relate to substance use.

Education Group Sessions encourage discussion among clients on research-based educational topics on Addiction, Relapse Prevention, 12-Step Programs, PTSD, Wellness and Recovery along with associated health consequences of substance use disorders using evidence-based practice curriculum. Group Sessions are 90 minutes and limited to 12 participants per group.

Pregnant and Parenting Women will be educated on the harmful effects of alcohol and other drugs to the fetus and mother along with services to provide support before, during and after pregnancy to help client recover and maintain a healthy lifestyle with additional services related to children and family.

Breakthrough Parenting Classes are offered for those who want to improve their parenting skills or those who are court/probation mandated. We offer 15 and up to 52-week parenting classes. Classes are available in English and Spanish.

Collateral Services are sessions between significant persons in the life of the client (i.e., personal, not official or professional relationships with client) and counselors designed to support the client’s recovery and focus on better addressing their treatment needs.

Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) is an evidence-based tool that may be appropriate for clients who need help alleviating alcohol and opioid-related cravings and withdrawal symptoms. In treating addiction, research has shown that a combination of medications and behavioral counseling is more successful than either intervention alone. Case managers may refer clients to a licensed physician for MAT based on individual needs.

Alcohol/Drug Testing is an important therapeutic tool to monitor client compliance with abstinence in treatment. Frequency is based on the client’s progress and is typically higher during the initial phases of care.

Discharge Planning will help clients identify strategies to avoid triggers that may lead to relapse and develop a plan to establish a positive support network in recovery.

Care Coordination is provided to integrate the primary care of the client with healthcare needs, mental health and social services such as housing assistance.

Case Management/Referrals are provided to meet client’s individual needs which include anger management, domestic violence, individual and family therapy, employment, healthcare, psychological, housing and many more.

What is the Time Commitment?

Outpatient treatment lasts a minimum of 3 Months, with client participation in treatment activities ranging from 1 day a week to 5 days per week, depending on individual needs. Those just beginning outpatient treatment may need 4-5 weekly sessions, while those further along in recovery may be successful with part-time sessions 2- 3 days a week. Talk to one of our admissions specialists to learn more.
